1st Cohort of the Award in Leading a Family Business course is now full-up. New Dates for 2nd Cohort out soon!

I wanted to really thank everyone, for the tremendous interest and response we received with regards the first accredited course we launched as an “Award in Leading a Family Business”. The 1st cohort is now full-up.

We are presently working to open a 2nd cohort, which will start in February 2024. More details on this will be out soon.

As I said, over and over again, family businesses often fail to adequately plan ahead, which can have disastrous consequences for all involved. The reality on the ground is that many of the inevitable challenges that emerge from the constant change that family businesses have to face, can be managed much more constructively if the persons leading such family businesses are well trained about how to handle such matters. Training makes a a huge difference because:

  1. It heightens awareness of the fundamental issues, which leads to a better understanding of what might happen if nothing is done.
  2. Training gives family-business leaders the ability to frame their reality and solve problems in a collaborative effort and by planning ahead.
  3. Training helps family businesses be better equipped to grab new opportunities and see innovative ways of growing their business.

Many times, the main reasons family businesses fail to understand the importance of training is that they’re either uninformed or they under estimate the benefits of good quality and targeted training.

I many times see various family business owners and leaders, spend a lot of time planning their next holiday or the next car or property to buy, but less so on planning ahead for their family business. Then time goes by and many problems and challenges have to be faced and a lot of important decisions taken under duress, that often have a bad outcome. The root of all this is many times the fact that family business owners and leaders aren’t giving due importance to one of their key responsibilities – educating and training themselves and future generations.

In essence, the family-business leaders and owners, who are open to learning and training are setting themselves up for a promising future, since the most successful family business are those that remain curious about how to always improve the way their family business is managed and directed. This is why we at EMCS academy have invested so much time and energy is setting up this first ever accredited course as we feel it is part of our mission to help family business become better at managing their respective businesses.
